Kara Pearlman
Kara Pearlman has been active her entire life playing sports, dancing and exercising. In 1991 she made it a profession after obtaining a degree in Exercise Science at Illinois State University. Kara has managed a Corporate Fitness Club, was Group Exercise Director of a large program downtown Chicago, and has also trained clients one-on-one. She has instructed all forms of group exercise at some of Chicago's top health clubs, has traveled to destination spas as a guest instructor domestically and toured Finland sharing fitness in 11 different cities.
Her specialty fitness evolved into hip-hop/funk which landed her a position as a Reebok Master Trainer and choreographer for the Midwest Reebok Performance Team. As a Reebok representative, she traveled around the country teaching Instructor Training Workshops and Master Classes. During this time Kara also created her own fitness programs and became a Continuing Education Specialist for ACE and AFAA. Several years later, Kara became the fitness columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times and began adventure racing. She competed in a variety of multiple-day races which led to a co-authorship of the book, The Complete Guide to Adventure Racing.
In 2002, Kara started a family and three years later moved to California. She taught bootcamp classes and in 2009, forged a 4 ½ year relationship with Pure Barre, first as a teacher, and for 3 years as a studio owner. Currently, Kara teaches fitness in private and group settings and specializes in sports conditioning for young athletes.
