Robert Budd
My name is Robert A. Budd and I am a Level II Certified Russian Kettlebell Instructor with a background in martial arts, powerlifting, bodybuilding, swimming, football, basketball, long distance running, and Russian kettlebell athletics (girevoy sport).
I started lifting weights with the football team in high school and caught the “lifting bug”. I competed in my first bodybuilding competition in 1997 and by 2001 I was #2 on the World Stage for the World Association Bench Press and Deadlift Championships. In 2002, I met Kettlebell Master, Pavel Tsatsouline and asked him one simple question: “How can I improve my deadlift?” His answer? You guessed it: kettlebells.
Over many years of bodybuilding and powerlifting, my biggest complaint was that my body always felt beat up and sometimes it felt like a car hit me. Some days I couldn’t workout because of the pain in my body caused by weightlifting.
In 2005, I purchased my first set of kettlebells and began using them exclusively. I immediately began experiencing the benefits of kettlebells and I wanted to give what I got to other people. In 2006, I became certified as a kettlebell instructor with Pavel at the Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC). The following year I became Level II Certified and in 2008, I became a Team Leader for RKC, training kettlebell instructors.
